Whoa… a New Post!!!

Okay, Miss Atwell, point taken.I wish to apologize to you all for the long silence on this blog. And unless you’ve been seeing the posts I’ve made on our other blog “The Musings of Two Creative Minds” where we cover a variety of topics on writing, book reviews, movie reviews, as well as a few other oddball subjects.

Here’s the link for anyone interested in checking that blog out: Musings of Two Creative MInds

Anyway, I’ll bring you up to date on where we’ve been and why it’s been so quiet here, as briefly as possible. Towards the end of last July, Helen and I moved out of California and up to Olympia in Washington state. We bought a home here, with Helen’s brother and their mother, and if you can believe it, after 8 months we’re still getting settled in. Now, besides setting up the house the way we all want, plus new doctors and insurance, etc. I’m still dealing with trying to get SSDI from Social Security. Hopefully, this will get settled by the end of June when I have a phone hearing with a judge. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, this has been a grueling process over the last 3 years.

So, in short… a lot has been going on behind the scenes. And yes, I’m just a wee bit tired from it.

Who am I kidding, I’m exhausted.

But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy mentally. I’ve done a lot of thinking over the last few months (yes, that is something I can actually do… surprise, surprise) and I came to a few decisions about things I’d like to do by the end of this year.

First of all, I am aiming to release a 2nd anthology involving Nathan and company. Like the 1st anthology, this volume will contain a number of stories that have appeared on this blog, as well as a number of brand new never-before-seen tales as well.

This 2nd anthology will be titled “The Vampyre Blogs – Two for the Road”. If all goes well it will come out later this year, just in time for the Halloween or Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season. We could do it sooner, but we have other obligations that need our attention first. One of them of course, is the upcoming hearing I mentioned earlier.

Also, Helen has a new installment of her Forever Detective series that should be ready in the next few months. I’m currently working on the cover for that book which will be titled Forever on Broadway.

For those not familiar with this series, here’s a quick synopsis. They’re all about detective turned into a vampire against his will, in 1940’s New York City, who is still running his business and taking on cases for both regular people, as well as supernatural/magical folks. This will be the 6th installment to the series. The first four books are available on Audible (with yours truly supplying all the voices). I haven’t gotten to the 5th book just yet, as I’m still getting my recording area set up and tested. But once I’ve done so, I’ll get down to recording that one as well as the new one.

If you’re curious to check the rest of the series out here’s the link: Link: The Forever Detective (5 book series) Kindle Edition

So, as you all have probably figured out already, finishing the cover, and doing the recordings of those books, are a couple of those little ‘tasks’ I have lined up to be completed before this year is out.

And there’s a little more I haven’t mentioned yet, but I’ll cover all of that in the next post. So please, take care of yourselves and be safe out there. And I’ll be back soon to continue this discussion (and yes I do mean SOON). So stay tuned, and happy reading everyone.

A Happy 4th of July Message from Nathan to All…

Hello friends, I know you’re only getting re-runs on this channel at the moment, but the authors Allan and Helen are dealing with some health issues right now. Hopefully, some answers will be forthcoming within the next few weeks. And if you’d like to get a full explanation click on this link:

This will take you their other blog channel “Musings of Two Creative Minds” where they talk about writing, voiceover, recording, book reviews and other topics. Sometimes they also get more personal, such as in the entry the above link will be taking you to.

Now getting back today’s topic, as someone who served as a soldier for the Union Army back in 1862, I know a lot of just what’s at stake when it comes to fighting to preserve and protect our country and those we love. And as we celebrate our country’s liberation from our former fatherland, England. I believe it is important to also remember the high cost that was paid for that freedom. And to always be thankful to those who paid the price back then, and ever since, to help make sure we still have that freedom and all the liberties that come with it.

So please, by all means enjoy the day with family, friends, and fireworks, but also take a brief moment to thank everyone (living and deceased) who helped make this day and keep it, and our nation safe. Because our freedom came at a very heavy price…

HAPPY 4th OF JULY

News and a New Tale Coming Soon…

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve been enjoying the stories shared here for the past few months, even if they are re-runs so to speak. Still, I’m hoping that they have been new to a number of our visitors.

I’m popping in today to give you all a heads up as to what’s been happening for me. I’ve been going through procedures for a back and leg problem, and have another one scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully this one might be the ‘silver bullet’ that corrects the problem. If not, then the doctors are going to have to look into some more invasive procedure options to alleviate the pain which should then allow me to return to work and being more mobile.

In the meantime, I have just about wrapped up my “A Christmas Carol” project, which will be made available to all for free over on YouTube. This will be an unabridged reading of Mr. Dickens classic tale, complete with images from Wikimedia and other public domain sites. The only thing I have left to do for each chapter is record an opening and closing where I will be discussing the novella as well as the importance of Mr. Dickens work at the time of its release. I’ll also be briefly exploring themes and why ghost stories were associated with Christmas even before the novella was ever created.

In the meantime, we have another spooky holiday coming up next month and in celebration of the season I wanted to let you all know that I am preparing a werewolf story involving Nathan and Marisa in Alaska.

So I hope you’ll keep visiting this site as my goal is to get the tale written within the next week or two while I recover from tomorrow’s procedure. My intention is to have the entire story written and then break it up into as many installments for this blog, with the finale being released on October 30th.

Until next time, take care and stay safe everyone.
